jessie, cello/composer
Jessie Marino was born in 1984 and grew up in Long Island, New York. In 2006 she graduated with her Bachelor's degree from the Manhattan School of Music where she studied with David Geber and was awarded the Stamas Family Scholarship from Lincoln Center.
As a cellist she plays regularly with Ensemble Pamplemousse and the Red Light New Music Ensemble in New York which focus on the commissioning and performance of brand new works from young composers. She has also worked with the SEM Ensemble (NY), Forum for Zeitgenoessicher Musik (Leipzig), KlangExecutiv (Berlin), the Ostravksa Banda ( Czech Republic) and with members of the Klangforum Wien(Vienna). In 2006 Jessie moved to Berlin, Germany and started a performance art duo with the singer Kerstin Fuchs. As a duo, Jessie and Kerstin are currently commissioning works that deal with the construction/deconstruction of time and plan on giving performances in both Berlin and New York in 2009.
Upcoming engagements include solo concerts in Europe to promote the works of New York composers and a concert tour with Ensemble Pamplemousse around the United States in March 2009.
